The word "detailing" gets used for everything from a RM25 wash to a two-day correction, so here is precisely what we mean by it: removing every contaminant from the vehicle without removing any clear coat. Nothing is polished, nothing is corrected. The car is returned to its true condition so you can see what you actually have.
Why this is the honest first step
A large share of the cars we see arrive with owners convinced the paint is ruined. Often it is not. What looks like dull, rough, dead paint is frequently a film of embedded iron particles, road tar and bonded industrial fallout sitting on a perfectly healthy clear coat.
Run your hand over your bonnet after washing. If it feels gritty rather than glassy, that texture is bonded contamination, and it comes off with chemicals and a clay bar — not with a polisher. Many owners who come in expecting to spend RM1,800 leave having spent RM320, because a detail was all the car needed.
The iron fallout moment
Every Penang car carries embedded iron. It comes from brake dust, from rail dust, and on the mainland from industrial fallout around Perai. Those microscopic particles land hot, embed into the clear coat, and then rust — expanding as they oxidise and pushing outwards into the paint.
When we spray iron remover, the car bleeds purple. Owners consistently find this the most alarming and most convincing part of the process, because the purple is a chemical reaction with metal that has been sitting in their paint for years. On a white car it is genuinely startling.

Pre-rinse and snow foam dwell
Thick foam left to dwell so loose grit lifts and floats off before anything touches the paint. Most wash scratches happen in the first thirty seconds of contact.
Wheels, arches and tyres first
Dedicated tools and chemicals, done before the body so brake dust and wheel cleaner never contact the paint.
Two-bucket contact wash
Wash and rinse buckets with grit guards, pH-neutral shampoo, clean microfibre mitt, straight-line motion, top to bottom.
Iron fallout removal
Chemical decontamination that dissolves embedded ferrous particles. This is where the car bleeds purple.
Tar and adhesive removal
Solvent removal of road tar along lower panels and behind the wheels, plus old badge adhesive and sticker residue if present.
Clay bar treatment
Mechanical lift of anything the chemicals could not release, with plenty of lubricant. Paint should feel like glass afterwards.
Safe drying
Filtered blower for panel gaps and mirrors, then plush drying towels laid and lifted rather than dragged.
Glass, trim and tyres
All glass cleaned inside and out, plastic trim dressed with a non-greasy UV protectant, tyres dressed with a satin finish.
Interior reset
Full vacuum including under seats and in rails, all hard surfaces wiped, air vents cleared, mats deep cleaned.
Protection layer
A polymer sealant giving 6–8 weeks of protection, so the car leaves protected rather than bare.

Car Detailing — questions we get asked
What's the difference between detailing and a car wash?
A car wash removes what is loose on the surface. Detailing removes what is bonded to it — embedded iron particles, road tar, tree sap, industrial fallout, and the film of contamination that makes paint feel rough. A wash takes 20 minutes. A proper detail takes four to eight hours because chemical decontamination and clay work cannot be rushed.
How often should I detail my car in Penang?
A full decontamination detail every 6 months is right for most Penang cars, with regular pH-neutral maintenance washes every 2–3 weeks in between. Cars parked outdoors near the coast or under trees benefit from every 4 months. Coated cars need it too — coatings resist contamination but do not prevent iron embedding entirely.
Do I need detailing if I'm getting a coating anyway?
It is included in every coating package, so you do not pay twice. Full decontamination is the mandatory first stage of any coating job — a coating applied over contaminated paint bonds to the contamination and fails within months.
Can detailing remove scratches?
No. Detailing removes contamination sitting on the paint; scratches are defects in the paint and require paint correction. What detailing often does is reveal that paint looking scratched was actually just contaminated, which is why we recommend detailing first on any car we have not seen before.
Do you do interior-only detailing?
